The General Motors Salaried Retirees Club (GMWSRC) held it's first meeting on April 15, 1980. Approximately, sixty-one Retirees met in the Salary Cafeteria at the Wilmington Assembly Plant. The President at that time was Frank Dianich, Vice-President was Frank Cavacuiti, Treasurer was Frank Henderson, and the Secretary was Doc Jordan. In 1990, Ed Hannigan assumed the role of the President of GMWSRC. Mr. Hannigan continued in that position until his death in 2005. Sandy Walters served as the Interim President in 2003 during the illness of Mr. Hannigan. In 2005 the current President Steve Quindlen took the reins of the GMWSRC and continues in that capacity.

The GMWSRC meets on the second Thursday of February, April, June, September, and November. A gala Christmas Party is also held in December. Meetings are held at the Delaware National Club in Wilmington, Delware.
